A 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly attempting to poison her husband barely 40 days after their marriage.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 12, 2026, in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area of the state, when Musa allegedly mixed a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the command received a distress call at about 7:40 p.m. from an anonymous woman in the Wunti Dada area, prompting officers from the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, to respond.
The victim was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is currently receiving treatment and is said to be in stable condition.
Police said Musa was arrested shortly after the incident and allegedly confessed during interrogation.
Investigators reportedly recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained poison and remnants of the meal, which were registered as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The police said the suspect would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
